Ramfis Playing Polo
Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Martinez (1929-1969), best known as Ramfis is here pictured playing polo with his team La Pampa del Cibao. He was Trujillo’s favorite son and heir to the throne. But Ramfis turned out to be an unstable spoiled brat who was only interested in la vida loca. His father made him a full colonel when he was only a child. Eventually, Ramfis was made commander of the armed forces as per his father’s wishes. But what he enjoyed most was the time he spent under the tutelage of his brother in-law, the famous Dominican playboy, Porfirio Rubirosa. Fast cars and even faster women were the order of the day. Ramfis died at age 40 from injuries suffered in a head-on automobile collision on the outskirts of Madrid, Spain—December 27, 1969.
