The Trujillo regime engaged in a massive public works program to modernize the country’s infrastructure. Although a small country with limited financial resources, Trujillo’s aspirations were to make this little nation into a small wonder. He succeeded in many ways but failed miserably when his greed for money and absolute power got out of control.
